Ferric phosphate and plant excretion products are transformed by the microorganisms present in the terrain into iron and phosphate based substances utilisable by plants. The snail bait has high powers of attraction to all snails that damage crops. Thanks to this characteristic snails, enticed by the bait, leave their natural refuge.
The snail bait, based on ferric phosphate, has a new action mechanism.
In a short time following ingestion of the bait, the snails stop eating and there is therefore an immediate protection of the crops, though following application it is still possible to observe the presence of molluscs. Rain or damp weather, favourable conditions for attraction of snails, do not detract from the effectiveness of the ferric phosphate based bait. On moist terrain or in very damp environmental conditions, the granules absorb the water and start to swell so that the bait becomes more attractive. In dry climatic conditions, the swelling of the granules diminishes and they return to their original appearance.
